"Artificial turf" and "synthetic turf" are often used interchangeably to refer to man-made grass surfaces, but there's no significant difference between the terms. Both describe surfaces made from synthetic fibers designed to mimic the appearance and feel of natural grass.

Artificial turf will last around 15-25 years once installed, which means that the initial investment should be worth it overall. Since you won't need to mow your lawn or irrigate the area, you should also be able to avoid the costs that come with hiring a gardener.

Natural grass is not an eco-friendly lawn. Between the water, pesticides, gas and electricity to keep it in tip-top shape, you are not the environments friend. The amount of traffic your lawn gets from children or pets will most likely create bare or discolored areas or muddy zones from overuse.

Turf is more predictable, as it's a man-made material designed to look like grass. This surface is often installed with rubber padding underneath. Turf is less likely to suffer quality issues after rain or develop uneven areas. It's easier to maintain and keep ready for the next big game.
